IgniterFund – Sam’s Grant: Young Londoner Fulfills Dream

join IgniterHive

We know that young people’s creativity, passion and energy can be dampened by the lack of funding. Some young people fall through the net and are not eligible for mainstream funds for whatever reason, yet they still have a real need and it is these young people that we seek to support. That’s why we set up the IgniterFund.

Sam comes from a difficult background. He left a Design Course after finding it difficult to fit in and engage, but identified an alternative course he was keen to join. He was concerned that he would not be able to access the course as the funding available to him was insufficient to cover the costs of additional materials.

We met with Sam to find out more…

Sam said about the grant: “Without it I would not have been able to attend the course. It would have taken me quite a while to get the money together. They definitely got me in quick.”

Sam has just started his diploma in painting and decorating level one at Barking and Dagenham College. We are delighted to be able to give Sam the chance to continue his education and contribute to making his dreams for the future a reality, through our first ever IgniterFund grant. We also look forward to hearing from him at the end of the course to see how it’s been.

Young people are referred to the IgniterFund by partner organisations. We welcome the opportunity to talk to other charities, youth groups and social enterprises to discuss how they could get involved and refer young people to our programme.
